SFDPH Program on Health, Equity and Sustainability (PHES) has several resources that can be useful for public health practitioners, community and non-profit organizations as well as government officials who are involved in a project or program that aims to improve health and equity in a community.
The Document Library contains reports, executive summaries, fact sheets, presentations, testimonials and other documents created by PHES staff. The library is searchable by keyword or by category.
PHES has been at the forefront of the emerging practice of health impact assessment (HIA) in the United States. HIA is a combination of procedures, methods and tools that systematically judges the potential, and sometimes unintended, effects of a policy, plan, program or project on the health of a population and the distribution of those effects within the population. PHES develops, applies and disseminates guidelines and tools to use in the HIA process.
PHES maintains an up-to-date bibliography of all peer reviewed articles authored or co-authored by PHES staff that relates to the work that we do in the program.
